About the Event
Have you ever thought about inventing your own food? Or getting a glimpse of what the laboratory of a food scientist looks like? Now you have the greatest opportunity to do so and even more!
During the 8-day course in Kaunas you will learn how food can be created with a 3D printer, get to know the basics of 3D food printing and food structure design. You will develop skills in technology for new higher value product development. You will understand why 3D food printing is considered a groundbreaking technology, learn the scale of its potential and develop a food product that can have a positive effect on human health and well-being.
You will also exchange your ideas with international students from all across Europe in the European Capital of Culture!

Throughout the whole year BEST organises different activities where students of technology get the chance to complement their fields of study, discuss educational matters, learn and take their first steps into an international career, increase their international experience, set up contacts, improve their English level and have fun. Each BEST event is attended by 20-30 engineering and technology students like you, who have something in common: they want to live a unique experience, different from day-to-day school life!

This course is focused on 3D food printing. In other words, you will have the opportunity to invent your own innovative food product from digital images. This course will cover topics like:
- Main principles of a successful new product development;
- Most promising idea generation for a food prototype;
- Health-promoting bioactive compounds;
- Food product positive effect on human health and well-being;
- Potential of 3D food printing.
But don’t forget that BEST Courses are not only about learning the chosen topic – you will also have a chance to explore different cultures, meet like-minded people, and most importantly – have fun!
Registration happens through BEST website. You should create a new account there and fill the application form to our event, 3Dinner: How it’s Made. Once you do that – sit back and relax waiting for the results.
We will select participants based on their motivation and interest in the topic, so make sure to tell us everything about how awesome you are!

Participation fee is 40 Eur.
And there also will be a deposit which will be given back after the event.
There are no knowledge requirements and your motivation is what matters the most.
All needed software is open-source and can be obtained online.
The whole event will happen live in Kaunas, but the communication prior and during the event will happen via WhatsApp and a Facebook Group.
Yes! Participants will receive a certificate with details on what lectures you attended and working hours spent.

Organisers
BEST Kaunas, the organisers for this event, is a part of international organization Board of European Students of Technology and was established in 2004. Ever since then BEST Kaunas has organized events that inspire and develop students from all across Europe.
Event is organised in collaboration with Kaunas University of Technology and Faculty of Chemical Technology. Researchers of the Faculty effectively implement projects of international and national research programs, actively cooperate with industry and business, public sector and social partners, successfully conduct outsourced research for Lithuanian and foreign countries, and intensively publicize and commercialize research results.
